Good Ol’ Southern Utah!!!

20100130-img_0247.jpg20091222-img_0032.jpgI am back of course in the comfort zone during the Winter.  The desert Southwest.  But this time around I have a new approach.  I am out for NEW routes, new development, and nothing but.  I recently bought a new drill which was basically my Christmas present to me.  This is the newest and lightest 36volt drill Bosch makes.    picture-1.jpgSometimes you just have to splurge and when it is for a good cause like route development it is ALLLLLLL worth it.20100123-img_0053.jpgPutting up routes is a chore.  It is nothing like going climbing or a day at the cliff.  It is work and labor which wears you out beyond belief.  A route developer is pretty much a lone wolf most of the time.  Simply because there aren’t many people very enthusiastic about the endeavor.  Most climbers out there simply climb on what is laid before them.  The bolts are put in or the line has been cleaned by someone else and they just climb.  This is what its all about really.  Climbing a safe, clean, well protected route that has been equipped properly.  THAT is my job right now.  I am out to develop the best, most interesting, most challenging, and perfect routes ever.  And yeah…. it takes a lot of work, but when it’s all said and done, you look at your product with complete satisfaction.20100129-img_0230.jpgRoute development is similar to creating a piece of art.  You lay the product before people to enjoy and experience and then it is talked about and discussed in various conversation.  Climbing is not just the activity, it is the conversation and sharing your experiences with others.  Climbing is a very personal experience and being able to offer an experience to others is very special.  YEAH!20100202-img_0432.jpgHope everyone is enjoying the Winter season!!!  If you get a chance come sample some of my new routes, I assure you that you will LOVE them!!!20100122-img_0012-1.jpg
